Most logistics automation companies specialize in either hardware or software. BlueSword's 33-year history is the story of building both — starting from logistics software in the 1990s and growing into one of the few Chinese companies with full in-house development and manufacturing across the entire logistics technology stack.
Company History: From Logistics Consulting to National Innovation
Founded in 1993 as a logistics consulting, planning, and software company, BlueSword moved into logistics automation in 1997 — early for the Chinese market at the time. In 2004, it developed China's first semi-automated cigarette sorting line and began expanding into system integration across other industries. A Technology Equipment Industrial Park, built in 2014, made the company fully self-developed and self-manufactured across its product line.
Later milestones followed in quick succession: a Robotics-as-a-Service model pioneered through a major Vipshop project in 2015, its first complete high-end logistics equipment exports to Japan in 2018, a STAR Market listing in 2020, and the start of construction on its Super Future Factory in 2021, completed and operational by 2022.
Software Heritage: Pioneer in WMS, WCS, and Digital Twins
BlueSword developed 3D logistics system simulation software as early as 1997, used across industries for logistics planning and consulting, and was among the first Chinese companies to build WMS and WCS systems. That early software focus has continued to shape the company's direction — it was an early mover in applying digital twin technology to logistics, building the BlueSword Digital Twin System with dynamic modeling, virtual simulation, offline debugging, 3D monitoring, predictive maintenance, and intelligent optimization, all already running in live projects.
Full-Stack Robotics Portfolio: Warehouse, Shuttle, and Aerial Automation
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recognized BlueSword as a national-level innovation enterprise in intelligent logistics equipment. The company's robot lineup — warehouse, shuttle, transport, aerial, picking, packaging, palletizing/depalletizing, and loading/unloading robots — covers the full logistics workflow, with more than 80% of core products developed and manufactured in-house.

Warehouse robots support single and double-depth configurations, straight and curved tracks, and multi-station operation, with variants engineered for ultra-high, ultra-fast, explosion-proof, and ultra-low-temperature conditions. Shuttle robots handle multi-station and variable-size operation across warehousing, buffering, picking, and consolidation, while transport robots built primarily on laser SLAM navigation manage complex-path routing. Aerial logistics robots create what the company calls a 3D factory traffic system, connecting production lines and warehouses directly and removing intermediate conveying and transfer steps.
Advanced Manufacturing: The Super Future Factory (Robots Producing Robots)
Since construction began in 2021, the Super Future Factory has drawn considerable industry attention, now housing a self-developed, self-produced 45-meter ultra-high automated warehouse and a 35-meter multi-shuttle warehouse — both large by industry standards. Once fully operational, the factory is designed around the idea of robots producing robots, and will double as BlueSword's own logistics center, serving as a live benchmark for large-scale intelligent logistics.
As a warehouse logistics solution company, BlueSword has used that manufacturing base to back up its technology claims with operational proof, rather than treating it purely as a production facility.
Global Footprint: End-to-End Logistics Solutions Across 15+ Industries
BlueSword's end-to-end logistics solutions now span planning, design, implementation, and after-sales support, deployed across tobacco, retail, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, footwear, apparel, electronics, communications, power, automotive, petrochemicals, cold chain, new retail, new energy, agriculture, animal husbandry, home appliances, and home furnishings. The company has exported complete logistics systems across the globe, with its automated warehouse solutions now running across hundreds of projects worldwide.
Founder and chairman Dr. Mike Wu has pointed to the company's integrated strength in self-development, manufacturing, and implementation as the basis for its resilience through disruptions like the pandemic — and its ambition to remain among the top tier of the global logistics technology industry.
Entering its 33rd year, BlueSword's trajectory has been consistent: build the software foundation first, build the hardware and manufacturing capability to match it, then extend both into new industries and new markets — one deliberate step at a time rather than a single leap.
